Small body moved somewhat clumsily through the dense foliage. Pads were muffled by the terrain under foot, and his greyish coat helped blend him, somewhat. It was the coat of an Arctic Wolf, so it blended with the seasons. But that was when he was up north, and something told him this place was different. His family had gotten rid of him, and freshly made scars were visible on his tiny bod. Tobias had asked no one to beat him, maul him, or bash him about, but they had, and they did it often. Until he could not even stand to lick his wounds or quench his thirst. But now, that had changed. He had escaped their hurtful clutches, and he was free at last.
But he stopped as soon as he sensed a change of terra. This one belonged to someone, and he knew better then just to waltz in. He could smell where the Alpha had marked his territory, and Tobias respected that. He backed away hurriedly, over the border line and sat down presently, debating on what he shuold do. He needed a home, for he knew his parents and other pack members would come looking for him when they discovered he was missing. He shook himself and yapped once, quietly. He knew they would never hear that. So he yapped once again, louder, hearing it echo around him. He laid down, waiting for the leader, warily looking about.

Audes hightened as the alpha heard the tiny yaps formed by the jaws of a youngster. Khaz moved swiftly and silently across the plains and spotted the cub, just outside the borders of his heirem. He was about to growl, but the scars showed that the cub was not lost but had been abused or attacked. By what, Khaz didnt know, but he would find out. He paddec loser, loudly this time, showing his presence to the young one so as not to startle him. "Hello there." He greeted in a fatherly voice, though he had been blessed with no cubs thus far. "I am Khaz, alpha of this pack. And who are you?"

He waited for what seemed like ages, waited for the slightest glimpse of a silver hair, a muzzle, a whitened paw. But nothing came..nothing moved. He sighed softly and plopped down, whining to himself. He felt so alone, and so..uncared for. His orbs looked around blankly. He wouldn't enter the terra without permission, so he would sit here and wait until someone came. He finally sensed something coming, a change in the air. He stood up, and his hair bristled excitedly on his back. It was just in his play, it meant nothing else. He saw the wolvine come closer, and he turned his dial to look upon him with curiosity.
His voice was so loving, so filled with kindness, that it made TObias wonder. Was this what it was like to have a kind soul in his life. But being from a bad background, he backed off immediately. For it could be an act, something to get him to relax and get off guard. He sniffed the air a moment, to see if anything was out of the ordinary. he heard the male's name..Khaz. He seemed nice enough, so he would reply, to be polite and not rude.
Tobias...

The pup backed off and Khaz smiled. He seemed afraid, but it was understandable. The alpha was a stranger to him, and Khaz thought his subtality was good, it could help him in the years to come. Expect the unexpected, thats what Khaz often told himself, and it seemed the tiny white pup was acting upon those lines.
Khaz stayed within the boundries of his packlands. He knew he would just scare the pup if he approched him too quickly, and instead, Khaz invited him forwards, to let the pup decide and not feel threatened or forced into anything.
"Dont be afraid Tobias. I wont hurt you, I promise."
He assured the cub in the same kind lyrics as before. Khaz knew it wasnt safe for a cub to be alone, and wanted the cub to at least come within Khaz's lands where he would be protected from less friendly male wolves. Maybe Sasha would help him, thought Khaz.

He was afraid. All the males in his life had only beat on him and hurt him. What was to say this one would be any different? He whined slightly. Not in fear, but in confusion. As he heard Khaz's words he relaxed slightly. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad. He heard a noise behind him and it startled him, causing him to jump forward and tumble. He landed by Khaz's feet, his back on the ground, belly up. He flipped himself over and cowered back, almost apologizing with his actions.
He wanted a home with a mother and a father. Someone to care about him and not hurt him, someone to give him protection and warmth. He had never gotten it before, and didn't know what it even felt like to be loved. He waited wuietlt to be admonished for tripping, or rushing into this alpha's terra. His small tassel was between his legs and his ears were down. He sat dejectedly, hunkering down, waiting to be hit.

Khaz's cranium was tilted. The pup seemed so scared of him, of his terrain. He took a few steps backwards, showing no harm was to be done to him. He lay down so that he was at the same level as the pup and smiled.
"Come on, ill take you home. I know a femme who would be glad to look after you. You'd like that, wouldnt you? A home? I can give it to you."
He whispered to the young pup. He wanted the pup to trust him, the scars littering his body were harsh and Khaz knew, just by looking at him, that he had not been given much of a start in life, but his end would be the best Khaz could make it, he decided.

He had closed his eyes tightly, anticipating the hit. But it never came. He opened one orb and saw the leader now laying down so that he was at his level! Tobias was surprised. No one had ever done that either. He turned to face him, listening to his words wistfully. What would it be like to have someont o care about him, to love him? He dind't know. He wagged his tail slightly.
He was still lying down, and he now inched forward on his belly, dragging it along the ground. Khaz seemed nice enough, actually, he was really kind. So Tobias was relaxing a little. He yapped softly in his excitement, and sudeenly bounded forward over to Khaz. His whole little body wiggled, and he stretched his muzzle up to lick Khaz's face. He plopped down in front of him, looking up at him with admiring eyes.

At first, Khaz thought the pup would be too frightened and run away, but the nervous cub changed and pounced at him, Khaz smiled and poked him with his black paw. Ebon face peered down and nuzzled the cubs cheek as Tobias tryed to lick him, Khaz allowed him to do so.
"Im guessing thats a yes then?"
Joked Khaz with a grin. The tiny white pup was adorable. The strong alpha would train him up to be brave and powerful like himself, and perhaps become beta, someday. Khaz smiled at the mere thoughts, he would make sure Tobias was hapy, even if it ment training him so that he could get his own packlands in the future.

Tobias play growled when Khaz pushed him with his paw, and he bounded over, climbing up onto his back, but then jumping off. He ran back up to the front and whined, letting his tassel sweep the ground. His orbs were bright now, and he was so changed. He only needed someone to trust and to care about him. He had forgotten how to act like a cub, and just be happy. He smiled and tilted his dial at Khaz's words.
Yeah..
He finally said, comfortable in this male's presence. He woffed once more and ran a circle around Khaz, clumsily though. He ended up rolling over once more, landing at Khaz's feet, but this time wiggling happily.

Khaz watched the pup with great amusement, he was hyperactive, that was for sure. He stood up and looked about the plains. The rocky lands were littered with daisies, covering the grass with thier yellow and white presence. A few birch trees were scattered about his home and many rabbits holes could be seen. The rabbits were scavenging for food as the herd of deer made thier way close by. There was an crippled deer at the back, her leg was slightly deformed. Khaz licked his lips hungrily. He turned to the cub and parted his maw.
"Tobias. Do you know why the wolves were created?" He asked the cub. "It is for one reason, to destroy the weak. See that deer, at the back? She is crippled, her children will be crippled also. It is our job to strengthen the herds and keep numbers up for our own use in the future. And so, I must destroy that one deer, for the safety of the others. The strong survive, the weak just die. That is that." He smiled and stood, turning to the herd. "Stay here Tobias. I'll bring that deer down. Okay?"
He left the cub to ponder upon the story as Khaz ran towards the herd. The deer began to run, but the crippled doe struggled and was forced to limp behind them. He caught up quickly, pouncing upon her and shredding her flesh. She fell almost imstantly under his weight and her pulled at the soft skin under her neck before snapping her spine. She died instantly, painlessly, well, as painlessly as Khaz could make it. He howled to Sasha to tell of his catch and to tell her to come and feed, before turning to the cub. "Come and feast, Tobias!"

Tobias soon settled, so that he wouldn't make Khaz angry. He was still wary around him, and how he acted himself, but he had relaxed considerably. He watched as Khaz stood and his blue orbs followed the male's gaze to the plain. He watched the rabbits with interest and stood, his tassel wagging excitedly. Something inside of him stirred, telling him that this was something he could do for himself. Find food and live..but not just yet. He tilted his dial slightly as he listened to his new guardian's words.
He agreed, somewhat. Since he was still young, he found it worng to kill the weaker animals. But Khaz's reasoning sounded fair and right, so he nodded his head softly. He watched as Khaz disappeared, and did what he was told, he stayed where he was. As Khaz brought the deer down, Tobias watched, memorizing every movement, every placement of too th or claw. He stood, adrenaline rushing through him. As he called for his lvoer, Tobias backed off immediately. Usually that meant he wasn't getting food tonight. He laid down with a slight whine. So things wouldn't be much different here. But he heard his name and then Khaz tell him to come eat. He burst forward, bounding over, although somewhat cautiously. He sniffed the deer, waiting for Khaz to finish so he could pick at the remains, like he always did if he was allowed.
